By accessing or using SplitGenius ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

SplitGenius is a mobile application that helps users track and split shared expenses with friends, roommates, and groups. The App allows users to create groups, add expenses, and calculate balances.

3. User Accounts

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
  • You must not share your account credentials with others.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any illegal purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
  • Upload malicious code or content
  • Use automated tools to access the App

5. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you create in the App (expense descriptions, group names, etc.). By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit this content as necessary to provide the service.

6. Financial Information

SplitGenius is a tracking and calculation tool only. We do not process payments or handle actual money transfers. Users are responsible for settling debts outside the App. We are not responsible for any disputes between users regarding payments.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE APP WILL BE AVAILABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR ERROR-FREE. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SPLITGENIUS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, FINANCIAL LOSSES, OR DISPUTES WITH OTHER USERS.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the App settings.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
